As a follow-up to the chlorine leak at the Water Treatment Plant on 13 August 2015 staff have conducted an internal review of the incident. According to Mayor Pender, “after reviewing all the details of our hazmat response we are confident that the right decision was made to call in the Grand Falls Hazmat Team to contain the leak given the concerns raised by the city firefighters who were called to the scene.” The hazmat incident at the Water Treatment Plant was the third occasion that the Corner Brook Fire Department were called to respond to a hazmat incident since May 2015.
