The regional branch of the Municipal Assessment Agency (MAA) carries out property assessments on every property in the City. These assessments are used to establish a value of the property and are based on current local market values. The assessed value is then used to calculate the property tax. The amount of tax payable on a property is directly related to its assessed value. The higher assessed value of a property the more taxes you pay.
If you feel that the assessed value provided by the MAA does not accurately represent your home’s value, contact MAA and launch an appeal. This process will ensure that the correct value is being placed on your property, and ultimately, the correct amount of tax is being collected.
