The City of Corner Brook is excited to reach a new milestone in the process to update the City’s Integrated Municipal Sustainability Plan and Development Regulations. Next week, our consultants form Upland Studio will be visiting the City to engage the public in two separate sessions to discuss the newest draft and determine if it reflects the diverse needs of residents and businesses. A third will take place online on April 15th. The newest draft was developed after public consultation which resulted in the “what we heard” document of 2021 (available here — LINK) and follow up discussions with staff and council.
So, did we get it right? Based on best practices and what we heard from the public, community groups and stakeholders, the latest document aims to address the areas of:
- Zoning and land use.
- Housing and density.
- Environmental Protection and Climate Resilience.
- Municipal Infrastructure and Services.
- Building standards and barrier-free design.
- Transportation.
- Economic Development.
Residents can review the new ISMP draft as well as fact sheets about how we propose to address the preceding topics here: www.cornerbrookplan.ca.
Residents who would like to have a chat in-person are invited to join us for the following consultation opportunities:
