With the 2024 Holiday season fast approaching, the City of Corner Brook would like to advise residents of some small changes to our annual household garbage dropoff program. We would also like to remind you of our regular practices for garbage collection after holidays.
Here’s what remains the same:
– After a holiday such as Christmas or New Years, or any statutory holiday throughout the year, the number of bags allowed for household curb-side pick-up is SIX rather than the usual four.
– There is no limit to the number of bags of recyclables you can put curb-side.
– Christmas Tree pickup will take place from January 4th to January 10th, 2025.
Six dumpster bins will be available if people require them for pickup days that have been bumped. They’ll be available at the Civic Centre parking lot on December 27th and December 28th ONLY, and may occasionally be removed to be emptied throughout those two days.
New this year: The City has arranged to pay tipping fees at the WRWM Wild Cove Disposal facility for Corner Brook Residents from December 27th 2024 to January 3rd, 2025. A photo ID with a Corner Brook address will be required to prove residency in the City.
Remember, the Civic Centre bins and Wild Cove tipping will only be for regular household garbage. ie: What you would normally put out to the curb on your regular pickup days. For clarification on what counts as household garbage, please see Western Regional Waste Management’s site here: www.wrwm.ca. While all residents can take advantage, these two options are meant to be for residents with any excess waste due to garbage days being missed. Please use these options responsibly.
While we’re happy to take your Christmas trees at the end of the season, remember they can also provide necessary shelter for wildlife throughout the winter. Leaving them in the backyard until the spring and then chopping them up for a nice backyard fire or for bulk collection in May are great options.
