2025 Spring Cleanup

In an effort to reduce costs and cut down on waste being left out well past the collection period, this year the City of Corner Brook is making some changes to our spring cleanup program. From May 1st to June 6th, the City will pay for tipping fees for residents at the Wild Cove Waste Transfer Station. Residents must have proof of a Corner Brook address. When using this service, residents will also be given a ballot to enter a weekly draw for a $100 gas gift card. Residents who drop off their waste are able to make more than one trip between May 1st to June 6th.

New this year: When residents drop off their waste, they will be able to bring renovation / demolition or construction materials as well as old tires and household hazardous waste

The Wild Cove Waste Transfer Station is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

At the city we recognize that not everyone has the ability or means to drop off their spring waste on their own. Beginning April 14th, residents who need it can call the City at 709-637-1666 or visit www.cornerbrook.com/2025BulkCollection to schedule an appointment and have their bulk waste picked up between May 5th to June 6th. Public works staff will come by to gather properly sorted and separated bulk waste (see details below). Pickup is limited to one per household, so residents should ensure everything is put out on time (the Sunday before their designated pickup). Any bulk waste which is put curb-side without an appointment will not be collected. Appointments must be made in advance no later than May 6th, as there will be no same-day appointment bookings. Demolition and construction / renovation materials will NOT be collected curbside.

During this time, regular household garbage and recycling pickup will proceed as it is scheduled. If you do not have a garbage schedule, see here: www.cornerbrook.com/garbage-and-recycling.

With the cost of spring cleanup rising exponentially over the past few years, the City has implemented this system after our holiday garbage tipping fee program which saw impressive uptake and significantly reduced costs. We look forward to working with residents on this new program. Any questions can be forwarded to 709-637-1666.

Waste Guidelines:
Spring Cleanup is meant for bulky, oversized items and other waste that isn’t able to go out with your regular weekly household garbage.

Those who wish to bring their own waste to Wild Cove are allowed to take what they want, and they are allowed to bring multiple loads between May 1st to June 6th. Those who bring their own waste will be allowed to drop off renovation / demolition and construction materials.

For those who will need the City’s assistance, they must follow our former program guidelines. Waste must be separated into two piles.

Pile one: Metals (Refrigerators, AC units, stoves, hot water tanks, small auto parts, small appliances and other metals).
Pile two: Bulk Waste (refrigerators, sofas, box springs, chairs, lawn furniture, branches, grass cuttings) as well as other regular household garbage so long as it is in CLEAR plastic bags.

Renovation / demolition and construction materials will NOT be allowed for scheduled pickups. To make an appointment call 709-637-1666.
